Rey met his sad smile with her own, though it was far more hopeful and encouraging than his had been. She didn't know whether or not he thought her naive or was just reluctant to hope for something better than he'd allowed himself to hope for all these years, but either way, Rey was willing to stand by him and do what she could to ensure that his future smiles were brighter and more genuine.
